Dr. Weiss received a degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science with honors from Princeton University. He then received his Medical degree with honors from the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in New York, followed by internal medicine internship and residency at the Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York and fellowships in Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore. Dr. Weiss then went into private practice for 15 years in Florida, combining patient care, research, including NIH-sponsored trials, and consultancy for top medical device companies and Wall Street firms. Since 2004, he has concurrently served as the Chief Medical Officer and/or advisor for a number of medical device companies. In this role, he has been responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with researchers worldwide, proficiency in FDA and patent/IP issues, clinical trial protocol design and development, investor relations, etc., and has presented numerous papers and lectures internationally. He is proficient in issues related to devices and engineering for medical products and the delivery of medical care, from the perspective of the physician, the hospital, insurance/third-party payors, office flow and logistics, etc.
