Investment, Innovation, and Strategy Executive
Sarah Street defies the mold of the typical insurance executive—though she enjoyed a successful tenure with XL Group, a global specialty (re)insurance company, as Chief Investment Officer then Executive Vice President, Strategy and Innovation Initiatives. She is entrepreneurial-minded and thrived in her role as Director & Investment Committee member of XL Innovate, a leading insurtech venture capital firm backing startups looking to disrupt the insurance business. After beginning her career with JP Morgan Chase & Co., Sarah moved through roles of increasing responsibility in global risk management and commodity finance. She then served as Managing Director, Leveraged and Hedge Funds group in Chase’s Investment Bank, for over ten years, during which she closely advised several CEOs and owners of leading hedge fund companies. Throughout her time at XL, she was appointed director on several startup or early stage asset manager portfolio companies which XL funded, as well as XL’s own startup alternative capital venture. She found that she thoroughly enjoyed working with entrepreneurs as they faced complex challenges, experience that she was able to apply later in her strategy and innovation role. In addition to being a seasoned investment professional, Sarah is an active, thrill-seeking world traveler and fitness enthusiast who is energized by adventure and new challenges—whether summiting Mt. Kilimanjaro, sailing 9,500 miles across open waters in a Round the World yacht race, or honing her photography skills in the Arctic Circle. Sarah has grown intensely curious about the opportunities to enhance the amateur and pro athlete performance and opportunities for overall wellness program driven by new and emerging technologies. In 2015 Sarah joined the board of READ Global, a not-for-profit focused on women’s empowerment in Nepal, India and Bhutan. Sarah holds a BA and MA with honors from Oxford University. She enjoys hiking, sailing, diving, and photography.
