Fernando Montejo is Assistant Vice President for Emerging Technology Initiatives at the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC). In this role, Fernando manages programs that support emerging technology sectors, as well as building a more inclusive tech ecosystem for the city. He is passionate about advancing community and economic development through civic innovation, place-based initiatives, and impactful partnerships.
 
Prior to joining NYCEDC, Fernando was Senior Officer for Economic Prosperity at MIT Solve, a tech incubator and marketplace for social impact innovation. He engaged leaders from the private, public, non-profit, and academic sectors to drive solutions to economic opportunity challenges globally.
 
Fernando was previously at the New York City Housing Authority, where he helped implement initiatives to improve the quality of life for more than 400,000 working and low-income New Yorkers. He has also served as a researcher at the MIT Center for Advanced Urbanism, and was a Global Policy Fellow at the Institute of Technology & Society in Rio de Janeiro, where he investigated the challenges and opportunities of staging the 2016 Olympic Games.
